We are writing to inform you of an important update regarding mandatory employment notices and posters. Please review the following information carefully and take the necessary action.

Recent Changes

As of January 21, 2025, the current administration issued an Executive Order titled "Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity," which revoked Executive Order 11246.

As a result, the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) postings have been removed from the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website. There is no federal requirement to post a notice regarding this revocation.

However, California and federal laws continue to prohibit workplace discrimination and harassment. The updated Workplace Discrimination & Harassment posters, required by the California Civil Rights Department, must remain posted.

Action Required

  • Please remove the previous version of the EEO notice/poster, “Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal” from your department or work location. See attachment of what needs to be removed.
  • Do not repost the revoked 2024 EEO Act poster for 2025.
  • Replace it with the revised “California Law Prohibits Workplace Discrimination & Harassment” poster, which continues to reflect current California and federal law requirements. Please see UCR’s Mandatory Workplace Posters webpage.
